So, if I was to say Metroid, Zelda, and Mario were my favorite games in the world...does that mean Nintendo is going to come knocking on my door, represented by four guys in black suits carrying blackjacks that are ready to beat the hell out of me?

Or is my blog not risque enough? Maybe I should start posting porn, and then they'd come after me. Then after I make fun of them, and most of the internet community starts to laugh at their idiocy, they'll offer me a free Gamecube with a game of my choice. Now that's public relations for you baby!

I woke up this morning after a fitful sleep, and the pain had in fact gotten worse. So I went to the Doc, and it turns out I "Cooked" my ribs. They're all screwed up now on the back left side. So, I'm taking the day off work, as for the rest of the week - I guess it depends on whether or not I regain any real mobility. I'd rather not miss many days of work though - I need the money. And I'm not terribly interested in going through Workers Comp. So here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

It seems I hyper-extended my back at work today - the wrong way. Now it's giving me fits of incredible pain. I got myself all hopped up on drugs at work to make the evening bearable, though it may have been a bad idea to try to extend that to going to the gym afterwards. I thought *hopefully* working on arms would be no problem for the back. Wrong. Damnit!

It's a colourful time of year. Shame it's almost over. Posted by Hello

I just walked into my bathroom and found a new tube of toothpaste - and it made me completely unreasonably happy....

Manchester United won against Arsenal 2-0 WOOWOO!

By the way this is Kathryn speaking and not Bryan..I was so shocked he didn't even post about the soccer game that I thought I would do it for him...so I "hacked" into his blog...sorry Bry! Don't get mad at me please! This is the first time I tried, and I won't do it again I promise, and you can delete this if you want I just thought it was hilarious that I got in first try and I thought it'd give you a pleasant surprise and hopefully make you laugh rather than get angry with me hehe...what are best friends for!?

And if you don't believe it is me...who else does anyone reading this know who types loooong sentences besides me?! hehe (oh and hehe's as much as me too).

Halloween is coming up, and I've been getting in the spirit by listening to plenty of Rob Zombie. Because, to be honest, nothing says Halloween like some Zombie pounding through the stereo! Woo!

Yesterday was a pretty decent way to finish off the weekend. After a day trip to Niagara Falls, and then a short stint on the other side of the border so mom could buy a couple plates she's been searching for, we arrived back home just in time for the rain to finally slow down and peter out within a short while afterwards.

Then I downloaded the Desert Combat Final update (361MB), and I must say it kicks a lot of ass. The new maps are awesome, and pretty much everything is just a little bit cooler now. The only problem I have is that my favorite map from the last version (LostVillage) has been mangled by bugs. The map itself is cooler than ever, but walking through walls and randomly dying within seconds after spawning from the main base rather takes away from the enjoyment. Here's hoping for a fix to come out shortly!

I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last night. Very cool. It's pretty different - not a typical love story - and that is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest inclination to see it.

The last few days have been pretty crazy. Working 10hrs on Wednesday was no problem. Followed by 12.5hrs on Thursday which would be alright, but then I had to get up at 6am Friday morning to work again (After having just gotten home from work/gym at 5am). So went on the road to a jobsite, and didn't get back until noon. Had to work again from 3-11 Friday, sleep from 1:30-6 to get up for a 7am-3pm shift. I'm feeling pretty good right now, because the sleep last night was rather rejuvinating. The period of 25.5hrs of work with 1hr of sleep made for a bit of tiredness, but it'll all be worth it come next payday. Right now, it's time to relax and play some games :).

This is going to be painful...

Monday, October 11, 2004

I hope everyone had a good long weekend. I know I did. Sitting here, relaxing after a big tasty meal, thinking about how I'm getting paid for this - I'm happy indeed.

Started my new intensive workout regimen yesterday (Back/Shoulders yesterday, Chest/abs today). I must say, those 'Good Mornings' are pretty damn good lower back exercises. As it turns out, I'm still feeling just how good they are.

Looks like I don't have to be worried about getting laid off anytime soon either. We just took a new order for roughly 5 million board feet of material. Wayne says that's just the beginning. By the looks of it, I'll have a job right into December. Fine by me! Money is goooood. There seems to be a possibility though that I'll get put back onto night shift to run a primary line to help keep up with this order. Ah well, that means I'll get a 40 cent shift premium instead of 35 cents! woowoo! *sarcasm ;)*

Work today was a little bit better (Other than getting electrocuted by the contour machine, that was bloody harsh) - the head wasn't as bad although the rest of the sick symptoms were a little stronger. Oh well, right now I'm pleased because it's time for a nice long weekend.

I've been listening to Manson's new Best Of album, it brings back some good memories. The DVD is pretty cool too, there's like 18 videos on there - w00t!

Canada's men's soccer hopes of qualifying for the next World Cup hinge on tomorrow's match against Honduras. If Canada wins - the chances are still slim, but at least they'll exist. A loss erases any chance whatsoever of making it to the next round of qualifying. With only 1 goal in the first 3 qualifiers - plans have shifted now to playing with 3 attackers. Here's hoping they can pull out a win! Go Canada!

I've had a bloody cranium-annihilating headache all day today from the moment I woke up, and it's still pounding away even now. Most of what I remember from work tonight is trying to keep myself from spilling my innards all over the ground.

Gary (From Work) lent me a cd today, the band is called The Bones, and the record label is: "I used to fuck people like you in prison" Records. Pretty funny if you ask me. Haven't listened to it yet - so no verdict on the band hehe.

Mark (From Popeyes) emailed me a new workout regimen today. I'm looking forward to starting on it as soon as possible. I've been using the same routine for a few months now and feel that it's time for a few changes. I'm also really interested in one of the workouts he told me about last night, called 'running the rack'. Basically, if I've managed to complete my entire routine over the week and want to head in for an extra day, this becomes a viable option for focusing in really hard on one muscle group. Lets say I want to do biceps - I'd head up to the dumbbell rack (There are 2 racks at Popeyes - both run from 10lb up to 170lb dumbbells) start at the bottom, and work the day up. Say I take a pair of 10 pounders - start doing curls until my arms are right tired, then jump to the next ones - 15lbs, always without taking a break between weights. Keep doing this all the way up the rack until I can't even do 1 rep. Then start heading back down. So go from say 10lb up to 50lb dumbbells, then from 50lb back down to 10lb. Then do it all over again until the arms are so dead that doing 1 rep with the 10lb weights becomes pretty much impossible. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun, so I'm thinking of trying it this weekend.

Anyhow, I'm going to head to bed and hopefully a get a nice long sleep to fight off this bloody sickness. Peace.

So Canada's new (but used) submarine HMCS Chicoutimi is having some problems that I'm sure everyone has heard about by now. These things can happen - but wow what awful timing. I can just picture the British, who went from "Good Riddance" to "Shit! That wasn't supposed to happen yet!"

In other news, I've been playing Thief: Deadly Shadows lately. Colin wanted my impression, so here it is: Kick Ass.

Mr. Lazaridis, founder of Research in Motion, has spent 100 million dollars of his personal fortune on the recently completed Perimiter Institute for Theoretical Physics, here in Waterloo. It is meant to be the most advanced facility of its kind in the world, and will house top Physicians from all over the world. The mission is to 'unlock the deepest secrets of nature and the atom'. Star Trek style transportation - here we come! ;)

Mount St. Helens is ready to blow any day now, experts are saying after the latest tremors shook the countryside around the volcano. Throngs of tourists and people looking to make a quick buck off pictures of an eruption are surrounding the volcano. You can bet a few will be sneaking up close to get an even better view. Potential death toll? A bunch of fools, probably.

I completed my second poem in the last 3 days today. I like this one better than the other, so I'll post it today. It may still require some work...I always see things I'd like to change days later on, but here's what it looks like right now.

*Edit: I posted and realized that a couple little formatting qualities won't translate into blogger. Even though it looks like I have certain lines tabbed over on the post tool, it doesn't actually translate when posted. Anyhow, though the lack of proper formatting bothers me, I'll just have to hope it works well enough this way. Enjoy.

For Life Is...

This is a hollow world
An empty world
Of spirits, and daemons
Twisting endlessly
Towards an unknown end
And we, we are the shadows
That flit about, day to day
With no purpose discerned
Apart from the definition

We are the contradiction
The indictment
Bound into bondage
Slaves of a spasm
Bourne upon wings of lust
To witness the slight
Of a star obscured
For this light granted
Hidden is wicked

Grant me this life
For the dream encompasses
My soul

Passion scatters like leaves
Blown by a firm wind
Across a waste of land
Littered by the twilight
Last light of a fading sun
Here travel the shades
Bastions of unreality
Caught within the nexus
Compelled by fate

Sing ye praises now
And dance ‘round the stage
Step upon these broken shards
Pain is but another quality
Drawn from the effort
Of pathless progression
So step now, with urgency
And follow the shadowed souls
Towards their final end

I cannot see beyond the darkness
For life is shrouded
And I seek in vain

The
For every love
There is a hate
Dream
For every pleasure
There is a pain
Is
For every life
There is a death
Life

There is no life without the dream
There is no dream without the life
There is no life without the dream
There is no life
But a dream.
