Australia Zoo

Kathryn and I took a drive out north to the Australia Zoo yesterday. 60 minutes and a surprisingly high (but entirely acceptable) entry fee later we were walking through part of Steve Irwin's legacy. We saw lots of animals and we took a lot of photos of everything from Koala's to Tigers, Crocs and Snakes and more still. Here's a few of my favs.

I absolutely had to include a picture of the warning sign on the Crocodile areas. I took this exact photo last time I was here in 2001 because I thought it was the greatest sign ever. It hasn't changed, and its still great.

This first photo of the tiger actually reminds me of an excellent painting by Carl Brenders. Well, the painting is actually of a female courger with her cubs...but she's licking her face, and so is this tiger, thus the connection.

It's snake lunchtime! I have a series of 3 pictures here showing the snake slowly gettings its prey down the gullet.

In case anyone is wondering. The picture above is the most poisonous snake in the world, with venom strong enough to knock down 100 strong men with one bite. And here's another tidbit for you: Australia is the only country in the world with more varieties of venomous snake than non-venomous.

I thought this was pretty cool...the croc just visible through the reflection on the glass-like water.

Anyway, that's all for today. Hope everyone enjoys the animals. Anyone that wants more info about the zoo can go here. And for information about Wildlife Warriors, go here.
