O'Reillys/Green Mountains (Waterfalls Galore!)

We headed back to Lamington National Park again this weekend. Last time we went to the Binna Burra section of the park, this time we headed over to the Green Mountains section. And I'm thinking that it is even more spectacular than Binna Burra. We first walked along the Tree Top Circuit - a series of bridges and decks high up in the trees, just outside of the O'Reilly's resort. Then we walked along the Box Forest Circuit - a very long and rough (came out to about 14km total), but ultimately rewarding class 4 trail that involved multiple creek crossings and numerous waterfalls. We also added a lot of extra climbing and navigating over treacherous rocks because we wanted to get the best possible views of the waterfalls.

I'm going to continue with my theme of just laying out the pictures without the long explanations. Its a lot faster andeasier for me to do it this way too.

First 3 pictures were from the Tree Top Walk where we got to climb up to the top of a tree and look around the countryside from a perch 30m above ground.

After having a quick lunch we took a few minutes to feed the birds. And admire the big carpet python sleeping in a nearby tree (a few shots above).

Now that we were done with lunch and bird feeding...it was time to hit the big trail.

The third last shot is a little burry but I think really cool. Apparently what happens to the trees is these fig vines grow over them and this is what it looks like early in the process...eventually the trees are completely enveloped and they die and simply crumble, leaving the figs with hollow centres. A neat process that creates some cool looking trees!
The last shot is just a funny way to end it. We were driving home and this bull was on the road and had no intention of moving so we drove around it.

Sydney

Took a road trip down to Sydney for a week. Lots of good times. Spent time walking along the beaches of Cronulla, the cliffs of Kurnell National Park, and of course and entire day in North Sydney - camping out waiting for Sydney's famous fireworks display. It was a jam-packed week of goodness.

I've decided my theme for posting today will be "less talk, more pictures". I think most of the pictures speak well enough for themselves, and don't need the lengthy explanations I tend to get into. My readers know well enough when I'm being artsy and when I'm being an idiot. So, on we go...

The first three photos were all taken along the beach when we went for our walk at Cronulla.

The next lot were taken during a visit to the downtown core for a little bit of sightseeing and shopping.
It important that I mention this - Kathryn is the one that spotted the reflection of the Centrepoint Tower on the building in the above picture. She was very proud of that one :).

Below is the group of us playing BUZZ at Phils house for a bit of a games night. Kathryn and I were the champions - winning 2 out of 3 matches. Go Team!

The next 10 photos are from Kurnell National Park. This is the area where Captain Cook and the Endeavor first sailed into the area now known as Sydney in 1770.

And finally, New Years Eve! We went to North Sydney and camped out for the entire day on the side of the hill with a brilliant view of the Harbour Bridge. To anyone curious about the Diamond and the Coathanger - the coathanger is there because that's the nickname for the bridge, and the diamond is because its the diamond anniversary, 50 years I think, of the bridge.

Thus ends my latest pictorial. There were some good ones in there, I think I was most pleased with the widescreen shots of the bridge while the fireworks were going off. I hope everyone enjoys these shots as much as I enjoyed taking them!!
