my(i)Tunes

Since I got the iPod about a month and a half ago, I've been using iTunes as my primary music player on the computer here. The thing I like best is being able to check how many times I've listened to any song, and which ones I've listened to most. Often, its not even me that plays the songs so often, because 90% of the time I pick a playlist and put it on random. So for fun, I thought I'd post up a few lists for everyone to look at, and either enjoy or despise my musical tastes.

Well I'm back at work for the time being - dayshift (7-3), so I'm pretty tired. Have to get used to getting up at the same time I usually goto sleep. But it's good to have some income again. We aren't sure how long it'll last though, because winter finally arrived here in Waterloo. After the warmest January on record, we've been greeted with a very healthy dumping of snow and cold in the last few days, and I'm happy to say it finally looks like it should around here - no more of this green grass in the middle of winter crap. I had to push a big van out of a drift of snow yesterday. That is what winter is all about!

I'm not sure how many of my readers have heard of the UK television show Top Gear, but allow me to make you aware of it today. It's all about vehicles, of course, and they do a lot of really cool and creative tests on it. For example, racing a dog against a Mazda (guess who wins), or comparing the handling of a Lotus to an Apache helicopter. This video though, featuring the determined efforts of tester Jeremy Clarkson to destroy a Toyota Hilux, is absolutely classic! It's almost 17 minutes long, but well worth a watch.

so glad to see you well

I'm a little late in posting the news, but 15 days from now I'll become host once again to a guest from Australia! Not even one this time, two! Its true, Kathryn is coming back to town after a two year hiatus. This time she's bringing a friend along too, Kerryn. The scheduled stay in Canada is 6 weeks, and Kathryn's plan is to spend time here and time in Winnipeg. Kerryn will be here as well, but her itinerary is a little different, including Vancouver and New York.

I'm looking forward to playing host to some guests again, gives me another excuse to have fun instead of working! Of course, I'm still not working anyway. With my luck, I'll probably get called back from layoff the week they get here.

We've also planned a LAN party here in Kitchener on the 25th, and of course I'll be bringing along the Aussies to get them involved in some good old fashioned geekyness!
