Computer notes:

Check this out! It may be challenging to build, and difficult to transport to LAN parties - but what a conversation piece! If you build one, doubtless it'll be unique in your area code. Those Germans come up with the neatest ideas I swear!

Next up, R580 unleashed! With an increase of 60 million transistors for a total of 384 million - makes for 48 pixel processors. Damn! I only have 8 on my card! And I still insist its a damn fine piece of equipment! :) So anyone that's got some extra cash and is feeling a little generous, feel free to pick up a X1900XTX and donate it to yours truly. Hell, you don't have to donate it, I'd be happy just to watch it perform in someone else's computer!

so dare to fail, will you?

Conservative Minority

With 307 out of 308 ridings fully reported, the Conversative leader Stephen Harper has been elected the new Prime Minister of Canada. Harper's Conservative party has been elected in 124 ridings. The Liberals won 102 (and lead in 1), Bloc Quebecois 51, NDP 29, and 1 Independent (Andre Arthur of the Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier Riding in Quebec), respectively. These results mean Canada has just earned itself a second consecutive minority government. This time under a different party for the first time in 12 years.

Now is Harper's chance to prove the naysayers right or wrong. But with a minority, how much can he really do? Enough, some would say. Time will tell. It's just a shame the Green's didn't manage a seat - better luck next time!

Final Results

Conservative - 124 Seats 36.25% of Popular Vote
Liberal - 103 Seats 30.22% of Popular Vote
Bloc - 51 Seats 10.48% of Popular Vote
NDP - 29 Seats 17.48% of Popular Vote
IND - 1 Seat .52% of Popular Vote
Other - 0 Seats 5.05% of Popular Vote

(I know the formatting sucks, blogger is lame and I'm too lazy to draw up a proper chart.)

Another weekend come and gone. I didn't do a lot, mostly relaxed. Played a lot of DotA, watched some tv. Tomorrow will be busy. As well, the election comes to a head tomorrow! I'm sure a lot of people are disillusioned with the entire electoral process but be sure to go out and vote!! Vote for what you believe in! That's all I have to say, I'm not about to try convincing anyone to go one way or another. I'll do that when I'm a candidate, lol.

So I've been pretty busy the last couple days. It started on Saturday, Frank was here for a good portion of the day playing pool and games. Then Adam, Paul, Brent and Derek came over for awhile to do the same thing. They didn't leave till about 3, but Adam was staying over so we played DotA for a little while longer.

So we slept for about 2 hours then went to meet everyone at Tim Hortons on Homer Watson Blvd. Then it was off to Detroit! I was driving with Adam and Paul, Andrew was driving with Derek and Brent. We crossed the border without much trouble, then went to the airport to pick up Tom who was in town for work. Went for lunch at some plan with fairly marginal food, then headed to the Cobo Centre in downtown Detroit. We were worried that because it was a holiday it would be really busy, but downtown was crowded with anti-war protesters, and the show wasn't too crowded.

We hung out for a good 5 or 6 hours, saw and sat in dozens of cars ranging from great to marginal. We pretty much avoided the crap though - that is to say, the Kia booth only merited a glance, and the only time we spent in the Ford booth was the time it took to get through to the other side. Some vehicles are just not worth the time.

All in all, we had a really good time and had a lot of fun at the show, especially with the creative cupholders in some cars ;). The future really does look bright in terms of quality and refinement.

We headed back home around 9:30ish, and Tom joined the crew in my car. Since both Tom and Paul had laptops we ended up with a mobile LAN party in my car, with a couple of DotA matches running to pass the time. I got home at about 12:30, stayed up for a few more hours and then absolutely crashed. I must have slept for a solid 9 or 10 hours.

So check out the pictures posted below, and enjoy!

I saw War of the Worlds tonight. It was a smouldering pile of crap.

So I've been an evil blogger lately, what with the terrible lack of real updates. So I'll do a quick rundown of what's been going on since I last did a real post.

Went to Winnipeg for a week and had a great time. We took Dani our little Mexican sledding and skating. He seemed offended that we were so much better at hockey than him ;). Once he started sleeding though he exclaimed "This is the most fun I've had in my life!" So I think he enjoyed it. I on the other hand went flying off a ramp backwards and upside down and crushed my braincase into the ground. It was about then that the constant headaches started. Diagnosis: Concussion.

I took the week off to visit, so most people were still working their last week before holidays so it wasn't always easy to hang out with friends, but I did whatever I could manage. There was a fine night of Christmas eve-eve drinking over at Colin's house :).

I got some cool shwag for Christmas, most importantly a black 4GB iPod Nano. I'm uber happy with it, a damn fine piece of technology!

New Years was a good time as well, went out with Adam and Bianca to a party where I knew 3 out of the 15 or so people there. I really enjoyed it, as it happens :) A good way to ring in the new year.

I went back to work for a week, but the slowless of the season led to a temporary lay-off. Not too big of a deal, it'll only be for a couple weeks, and it gives me even more time to relax. Also, I don't have to book a holiday for next monday. Because next monday I'm headed out with Adam, Tom, Paul, and a more to Detroit to take in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit :D!

My old 19" Daytek CRT monitor died yesterday after about 3 years of service. So I went out today and bought a 19" 3ms ViewSonic LCD. It's been in service for about 8 hours now, and I have nothing but good things to report thus far.

That's about all for now, I'll be back with more posts soon. Being laid off, I don't really have an excuse to be lazy on here ;).
