Tropical North Queensland Holiday! (AKA Biggest Post Ever)

Ok, I've got a crapload of pictures and not a lot of time so I'm gonna hop right to it...Enjoy!

Day 1

Arrived in Cairns. Rented a Nissan Tiida from Europcar and made our way to Port Douglas. I was the primary driver for the week and had a fabulous time! Just a couple photos to show from the drive up.
Day 2

Got up at 5:30am and went to the beach for a walk - with the camera of course :). First we drove up to Mossman Gorge and then to Daintree National Park.

Day 3

Hooked up with the Aristocat tour out to the Great Barrier Reef. We did 3 dives on the Agincourt Reefs and it was bloody brilliant. I did scuba on 2 of those dives and snorkel on 1. Mom spent most of the day feeding the fish her lunch - unintentionally. I felt a little unwell at first but managed to overcome the sickness by the time we reached our first stop. Kathryn of course suffered from zero sea-sickness and had no problems whatsoever. Anyhow, since we were in the water most of the time I don't have many photos to post from this day. But I have a bunch we took from a disposable underwater camera but I haven't had a chance to scan them all yet, just the one I posted previously.

Day 4

Took the Kuranda Skyrail from Cairns to Kuranda - beautiful. Then hit the drive out to Undara National Park for an overnight stay.

Day 5

Undara Lava Tubes. Ginormous tubes formed from lava flows from 200,000 years ago, very cool to take a walk through. Checked those out, saw some snakes, went for a walk up to a bluff with a good view, and did a crater walk around the rim of an old volcano. So it was pretty enjoyable. On the way back to Port Douglas we drove through the absolutely beautiful Atherton Tablelands and did a detour through the Milla Milla Waterfalls Circuit. I must admit, that was one of the most enjoyable drives I've ever done - and the waterfalls were excellent too!

Note: There's a picture down below that looks out over some trees and looks fairly boring. But the reason it is cool is because if you look closely you'll see a vein of much greener trees across the landscape - that vein is the location of the lava tubes. Spiffy indeed.

Day 6

Went for lunch with the birds at the Rainforest Habitat. Saw hundreds of birds, then posed with a Koala, and finished by feeding the kangaroos/wallabees/wallaroos. Finished the day atthe Marina capturing some Sunset pictures.

Day 7

We did a snorkel trip down the Mossman River...but I didn't bring my camera with me. Sorry lol, but it was beautiful and awfully relaxing. Went and took some more sunset pictures that evening.
Day 8

Last day! Went for a swim in the fancy resort pool, then packed up and headed back to Cairns to catch our plane home. Mom took a bunch of pictures from the plane using the Aerial Photo setting on my camera...that certainly kept her entertained for the two hours lol.

Hope everyone enjoyed the pictures at least half as much as I enjoyed taking them!
