Still truckin along like always down under. I've fallen into a fairly pleasant rhythm here the last little while. By turns spending time relaxing, working out, walking around town, reading or gaming. I've dropped off a half dozen applications so far, no action on those yet. I'm not worried though - I admit I'm even being pickyish.
Last week though, I had the pleasure of participating in a portion of the building process of an Australian Duplex. I was working with Kathryn's Dad, John. It was worth 3 days of work, and after the plumbing and electrical is all set up I've an open invitation to return and help drywall the interior. We had an interesting few days, highlighted by our scaffolding sinking into the mud and tipping over - while we were both on it.
On Saturday we went over to some people's house to partake of the Grand Final match for the Australian Football League. I must say - Aussie rules football is ridiculously different to North American football - so much so that its a wonder why they call it "aussie rules football", and not something else more suitable - like "wtfball". I swear, more of the time it seems like its just a few score guys running around on the field with no idea whatsoever about what's going on. The primary attempt at cohesive strategy seems to be "kick the ball into that group of 12 people and hope one our guys comes out with it". Its a fast game, and its entertaining, but on the other side it has little to no structure.
I also went golfing this weekend with Kathryn, Ree and Susan. We had a good time, and in spite of the rust I didn't feel too bad out there. We plan on going more often. - meanwhile I'm wondering why the hell I didn't bring my clubs with me. Leaving those at home was indeed a terrible lapse.
This weekend brings the Oktoberfest celebrations - right across the street from our apartment. You can bet I'll be partaking.
I've snapped a couple more random pictures over the past few days. They're layered throughout the post and require no explanation as to their content - unless any of you are wondering why I took pictures of clouds. Its because clouds are cool! Deal with it.
